Hyperpigmentation refers to a blotchy uneven complexion and can be presented in many forms: pigmentation which may appear as uneven skin tone [darker patches of skin], post-blemish marks. It can appear anywhere on the body but is commonly found on the sun-exposed areas of skin such as the face, décolletage, arms and backs of the hands.
Ageing skin looks thinner, paler, and clear (translucent). Large pigmented spots, including age spots, may appear in sun-exposed areas. Changes in the connective tissue reduce the skin’s strength and elasticity.
